Miranda Project

The vision for this project was to create a backyard that blends seamlessly with the naturalistic feeling of the yard while adding a modern and unique twist. You will notice this is not your ordinary “Freeform” Pool, and there are many details that make it stand out. Unlike many backyard projects, the decking is one of the main visual features that really catches your attention. The unique turf design was intentional to capture your attention and guide you from the existing concrete to the new decking that we installed between the existing outdoor living area and our pool.

The natural boulder water features, natural stone planters, and flagstone coping all play a role in tying in the retaining wall on the backside of the yard and the natural landscape we started with when designing the space. The modern twist comes from a combination of the untraditional freeform shape, tile detail on the back wall, and beam on the left side of the pool. Wrapping the beam with a natural-looking tile provides a clean and eye-catching detail that can be subtle but goes a long way.

This project shows that taking risks and doing something different can really pay off and give you a truly unique space. By blending natural elements with modern design, we’ve created a backyard that is both visually stunning and highly functional.
